2014 Bursa Rally Report

 

The first full gravel race of the 2014 season was held in Bursa between the 14th and 15th of June. Its been sometime since we last competed in gravel, so it felt really good to go sideways for a few days!

 

During the course of the rally weekend we covered 126km of special and 277km of liason stages. Our goal at the beginning of the rally was to be consistent with our speed and to finish the event in one of the podium placed. We managed to stick with our goal until the very final stage where we had the transmission case brake on us. We lost five minutes within the stage unfortunately and ended up finishing the rally in sixth position overall.

I am usually a fan of looking at things on the positive side. I think me and my partner Burçin Korkmaz showed enormous determination when we put out four small fires within the engine compartment and completed almost 50km of liason stage without a single drop of oil in the transmission. Anyway, this rally went down as one of the experiences that makes us tougher. Next event is Istanbul rally where we hope to be on the podium this time! See you then.
